My poor, neglected blog

I can't believe that it has been almost a month since I have posted anything! I love, love, love blogging and it is really the only baby-book/journal/scrapbook that I keep of the kiddos so I really need to get back into the swing of things. Our computer is almost dead... as in "mostly dead" for those of you who know the Princess Bride. Some days it works, others it doesn't, and to load up pictures or links etc. is a lesson in patience to say the least. That is the biggest reason that it's been so long.... but, since a new computer has not magically appeared- I need to just deal with it and move on.

So.... without further ado or complaining.... here is a power post of the last month :-)

  • The girls are really enjoying school. We are getting into the swing of things finally and it's good! I"ve been trying to walk as much as we can to school each day but the monsoon season seems to have started early this year so it has been at a minimum so far. Hannah and Haley both have the same teachers as last year and that makes it really nice since everyone knows the drill already. Hannah has joined the choir at school and today is her first rehearsal. She is very excited about this and I know will do a great job!
  • We have been keeping busy with the Y- mainly family circuit class on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Scott went to Russia for 2 weeks and this was my "social outlet" while he was gone. The kids went with me- which was fun- but I also got to exercise so it was a win/win situation. I just signed them up for the next term and the girls will be having swim lessons as well as gymnastics. I'm eager to get back into zumba since I've taken off a few weeks while Scott was gone. Kaitlyn and Cade will go with us to the Y on Wednesdays so I will have my 5 in the pool again- lots of fun!
  • While Scott was gone, we took a trip down south to Portland to see our newest cousin. Little Nora is so cute! We got to steal Evelyn for a day and we played with Kelvin and Claire (other cousins) and had a great time at the park! I love being so close to family- and yes, I consider 3 hours close- haha. We are thinking about when our next trip will be- it sounds like Evelyn may come up here for a visit! What a big girl she is becoming! What fun we will have with 4 little girls in the house!
  • Scott is working on his scottitravelguy.com site. He is putting together great presentations to give to schools, classrooms, and groups of any kind really. The next step in his adventure is to start writing children's books on his travels. You should check out his site if you get a chance! He is also working quite a bit at the port as a superintendent and as an escort.... one thing for certain- my husband isn't afraid to work- haha!
  • So far this week has been pretty eventful. Saturday we picked Scott up at the airport, he had to wait about 45 minutes for his bags once he got to Seattle. He finally called me and told me he was ready to be picked up, and I had to tell him he'd have to wait a little longer- I was busy jumping the car since the battery had run down. I am so glad that was raised with boys for lots of reasons, but the fact that I know a little about cars has really come in handy! It was pouring rain ( what's new) and I knocked on the window of the car in front of me at the cell phone lot. An older gentleman and his wife sat in the car and didn't want to open the window for me! Like this mother of 3, driving a mini-van, standing in the pouring rain, in the dark no less was really going to mug them?! :-) Finally, he cracked the window, I told him my story (with jumper cables in hand), and he finally popped his hood for me. I got everything rigged up, started the car and thanked him. To his credit he did get out of the car finally towards the end. I didn't think I looked that scary!?
  • We had a few quiet days around here after that- Scott was recovering from jet lag and a cold- not a good combo. Monday morning started as usual, 7:15 my 3 girls at the breakfast table and a ding dong at the door- my 2 extras- when I heard crying from Hope, then coughing, then screaming from her sisters.... yep- a breakfast barf session. So glad that Scott was home so I could scream for him and pass Hope off for a "bath by dad" while I greeted Kaitlyn and Cade, finished hair and lunches and tried to see the humor of my Monday all the while cleaning up vomit.... it took awhile for the humor part to kick in I must admit but it finally did :-) She is feeling much better today- so good in fact that she opted out of her nap and is playing candyland with Kaitlyn as I write.
  • That I guess is our month in a nutshell- my goal is to at least be posting each week so let's hope my computer will cooperate!
