Today was opening day at the Spring fair. After school, we trekked downtown to see what type of adventure was awaiting us and we were not disappointed with what we found! We walked in the gates and saw a very strange sight, no line at the face painting place!!! so we ran to get our faces air brushed. Hope wasn't too into it but Hannah chose a nice ladybug.. go figure, and to honor Bokie, Haley chose a butterfly.
The next step was to the trout pond where the girls could catch a fish. Haley was a bit leery but Hannah jumped right in. Great Grandpa Isom would be very proud! She stayed very calm, unlike her mother who while catching a fish with Great Grandpa almost tipped the boat with her excitement! They offered to let us keep the little guy but we politely declined and let him go back in the water after a few pics and him flopping onto the ground... poor little fella!
Our next stop was at the Mexican Prancing Horse show a definite highlight! This show came complete not only with a Mariachi band and beautiful prancing horses, but elaborate costumes as well! The girls loved the animals, what's not to love about giant horses! I can't believe how huge some of these were! And one in particular had the longest tail and mane that I had ever seen! It but the black stallion to shame! The music was quite an experience in and of itself! They sang the Mexican national anthem then the U.S. national anthem and then broke out into this crazy fun, south of the border sound that the kids and I loved! I did however think that the microphones were a bit overkill... it was sooooo loud!!! :) but it was really, really cool!
After that we saw the calves, sheep, lambs, and my personal favorite.. the pigs. Scott joined us part way through the horse show and so it was lots of fun to hang out as a family for a bit. He told us that we'd see a lot of this if we went to New Mexico or Mexico.... gotta love living with a world traveler now! Sign us up! We'd love to go! We ended the experience with a giant elephant ear to share!
The kids are all tucked in their beds now dreaming of livestock and Mexican cantina music..... gotta love the fair!

You are the epitome (sp?) of a fun mom! Oh my goodness, when Andy is away, I sit and pout the whole time that he is not there to help with the kids...waiting and waiting for him to come home so I can go to the bathroom. BUT NOT DEB!!! She sets out to conquer the world when Scott's away! You absolutely amaze me! :-)
