Yesterday was a great day! The girls woke me up at 6:30 singing Happy Mother's Day to you.... very cute ( very early...but very cute :) After church and a rest we went to Old McDebbie's farm for a little fun. This farm has a camel, alpacas, llamas, donkeys, cats, bunnies, all kinds of exotic birds like peacocks, and then your basic farm animals like pigs, goats, chickens, etc. etc. One animal that did not make our "like" list was the Emu. This bird had red demonic eyes that blinked from the bottom up and really made quite an impression on Hope. Through out the farm there are little play areas and the girls were playing beside the Emu pen. Little did Hope know that while she was rocking on the toy boat, the Emu was sticking his head through the fence and was going to take a peck at her pony tail! I saw it....but dad was on it even quicker! Hope turned just in time to see the Emu's head over her shoulder and jumped into Scott's arms ( a vertical leap of about 4 feet which is pretty good for a 2 year old) and let out a huge scream! After many minutes of reassurance Hope informed us that "I don't like that Emu... he's a meanie!".. so... we went off to the Eye spy forest and left that meanie bird!
At the farm they have a trail that goes into the woods and there are different things that you can spy like birdhouses, alligators, beavers, etc. etc. The girls had a really good time with this after they realized that the snakes and alligators were not real! They have grand ideas of making a trail like this in Bokie and Bokaw's back yard this summer!
We could have fished in the trout pond or had a pony ride but it was getting cold at this point and we were getting hungry so we saved those activities for next time! We hit Red Robin for dinner- yummy! and then home. It was a great day! And I loved my gifts: chocolate, roses, a coffee card, a pillow made by Hannah and some pictures from Haley!
