I know, I know, we've been home a week and 2 days already!! It has been crazy here but finally I have the details of our wonderful get-away started. Our first day we flew from Seattle to Cabo. I was so happy to find out that it takes just about the same amount of time to fly to my parent's place as to fly to beautiful Mexico. The flight was pretty uneventful, but once we touched down in Mexico the excitement began. We did a quick "grab your bag and go through customs" then we were bombarded with "helpers" and boy were they persistent! A lot of these people wanted us to visit their time shares or what-not but I just stuck close to Scott and we cruised through. Once our rent-a-car place knew we were there, they picked us up, gave us the keys to our pop-can on wheels and we were off! Where did we go first you ask? Why Wal-Mart of course! We picked up breakfast stuff and tons of bottled water for the week. There is something so strange yet comforting when you walk into a Wal-Mart in another country- it all seems so familiar! The one thing that I had to get over was that things were in pesos ( as they should be in Mexico) but it was so strange to see huge numbers like 250 for a loaf of bread or whatever. But, lucky for me I had my personal, experienced shopper with me so I didn't really worry that much.
After our trip to Wallyworld, we headed out to Los Collibris ( the hummingbirds)- our home away from home for part of the week. Sergio and Bryan were wonderful hosts! They met Scott when he did a walkng tour in Baja a few years ago.
Our house or casita while in Todos Santos was great. We had a large room ( which I forgot to get a picture of- grrr) that had a kitchen area, table area, bed, and then a great bathroom. Yes, bathroom! It had a huge tiled, doorless shower- I would so love to change ours at home now haha! As much as I liked the bathroom and all.. my favorite feature of this house was the roof top patio. It was enclosed with stick doors and roof framing so the sun and breeze could easily flow through but it felt very private. I sat on the oversized couch and lounge chairs up there as much as I could! The view was amazing! You could see the lagoon that sat between our place and the Pacific which had tons of birds and was so fun to listen to at night! Bryan and Sergio have 4 dogs and they showed us the way to the beach on our first day. We had to walk past the lagoon, over some rocks, then we were there! The waves crashed so hard where we were- it was so great! No swimming here but we had like 70 miles of beach to walk so that ws perfect for me ( and my Jackie O hat... but by the end of the trip it looked more like a Captain Crunch hat).
Another highlight of this spot was our housemate Guadeloupe the gecko. She was too fast to catch so I just had to get over the fact that a lizard could crawl over my face at any time during the night. I must admit, I wasn't too excited about her until Scott said the only thing he could do is either " kill it or deal with it cuz I can't catch it". When he put it that way- she became our unwanted "pet". But I must admit, I came around and she behaved so it was a good set up.
This is the first day- sorry! I have a feeling this is going to be longer than the 9 part Missouri series or the 12 part "trip to Idaho" post. Stay tuned!

What fun. Know you loved the beach and new scenery. The hiking must have been a real treat.

Reminded me of some of the things Ivy and I did on the 6 week trip we took to "Religions of the Ancient East." Bali was one. Live and see! You are the greatest! DAD
