The Whales!

After our kayak excitement, we decided that it was time to see some whales! We planned on doing a half day trip then a full day trip from another port the next day. This is our half day trip. We got to the whale excursion place and I knew that we were in a tourist trap! Not because there were so many people, but because all "non locals" had to pay to use the bathroom, and bantering over the price of things was very common. I'm so glad that Scott knew what he was doing- I would have over paid for sure at this stop! We waited to see if there would be any other people coming that we could share a boat with. A boat is the same price for one person or a boat load- they just split up the cost so obviously it is more economic to go with a full boat. We ate some great fish tacos ( what else).. I think Scott had shrimp... but anyway, we ate lunch and then went back to see if there were any other whale watchers. Nope! So we got the experience all by ourselves! (which I loved). Our guide Leonardo was really good at spotting where the whales would be. We followed a few mama's and babies and Scott even pet one! It was amazing how social they area and how HUGE!!! Our boat was this little dingy thing so I was a bit scared at first (especially after taking a dip in the ocean just the day before) but I quickly got over it and love every second of our 2 hour tour. We enjoyed it so much that we decided against going out the next morning because I just didn't think that we could top our experience that day! So we drove to San Carlos and ate dinner at a local place- yummy and stayed the night in a little hotel. Everything was tile here so it was pretty loud but Scott had earplugs for us and I had my best night of sleep on the entire trip!

The next morning instead of another whale excursion, we headed back to Todos Santos for some shopping and relaxing.
