This past week the girls tried something new- ACTING!! Well, kind of new... acting as in trying out for a part in a play- acting. ;-) The Missoula Children's Theater came to our school thanks to our PTA. They are a traveling theater company and go all over the nation introducing kids to the arts and getting them involved. Monday we had try-outs. I was a bit nervous in that 129 kids tried out and there were only parts for 60. We had the " part of being a family is supporting each other even when things don't work out the way we plan"... aka the "you may not get it but be happy for your sister if she does" speech. They agreed/understood etc. but thankfully that was a bit of drama that we didn't have to experience this week since both girls got parts!

Haley was a woodland creature- a fox to be exact. They sang, danced and did a great job! You can see Mia the bat behind her to the right.

Hannah was part of the "dark forest"... a tree actually. She got to be real creepy and lurch around stage when ever the Wicked Queen made an entrance. She also had about 4 lines and did a great job remembering them!
The play ended up being quite a commitment. The girls practiced every day after school until 5, and 1 day until 7:30! I think overall it was a good experience- some ups and downs along the way- but after it was all said and done they really enjoyed it.
I took video of the entire play, not sure how well it turned out, but just a heads up to you grandparents... it's available if/when you want to come over and watch it! ;-)

The play must have been wonderful. You look great in your costumes. We will enjoy the video when we see you. Have a great week.

Such great smiles! I absolutely love children's theater! Hope that we can view the video or have a performance of our own! ~ Courtney McGarry
