Living in Boise we would often go up into the mountains for our vacation. Our first time at the cabin in McCall was a real shocker, we came prepared with pots, pans, sleeping bags thinking that it was a real "cabin".... we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom home, complete with 2 fireplaces, a deck and a private dock. We always loved having my sister in law Kathy in the family and it's a great bonus to have her family's cabin too! I have great memories of that place as a kid growing up and as an adult. We came a few times every year when I lived in Boise and Scott and I spent a week here on our honeymoon. Anyway, I was really excited to share a bit of McCall and the Cobb's cabin with the girlies.
After a great weekend in Boise, graduation and a mini youth group reunion with my friends (which I didn't take any pictures of- geesh!) we headed up to the hills. Earlier that morning we went to church at the church I grew up in, went to a bbq for Stephanie, said our good byes to my good friend Amy who graciously let us invade her home for the weekend and hit the road. Mom and dad drove with us in the van so it was close quarters but still a lot of fun. We got to the cabin only to realize that we were given the wrong key. We tried to get in, break in, get a locksmith to undo the lock and nothing worked. My mild mannered hubby had had enough! I could tell that he was going to loose it so I had him drop the kids, my parents and I off at a pizza place in town and he went to "see what he could do". My parents were secretly very happy to see Scott so distraught because it shows that yes, he is human... but of course I knew that all along! :-) We called my brother Steve who was just leaving town and he was able to run by and get another key. We ate pizza and discussed ( and chuckled) about our situation for the next 3 hours. Scott came back to the pizza joint to pick us up right as Steve pulled into town. Great timing. We all drove to the cabin and unloaded. After we figured out how to turn on the water, we all went to our separate corners of the house for a bit then got together and had a good laugh. I must admit that I wasn't sure if the "laughing part" would happen until later in the week- but was so glad that it did that night. Talk about a great start to a restful week in the woods! And did I mention that it was snowing?? In late May??
We had a great time the rest of the week. Steve and Cate ended up being able to get into their condo on Monday, we had a huge snowball fight, girls vs. boys, went to the fish hatchery and the park and lots of other fun things. I'm so glad that I have a family that can roll with the changes . There's never a dull moment with us -that's for sure!
