Thank you Lord for a sense of humor... for without one I would surly die... :-)
Tonight I had to give out the ultimate punishment.... the girls were banned from having a slumber party together... oh yes... they couldn't get along after many warnings at bedtime so we sent them all to their own rooms to sleep in their own beds! ( gasp!) I know... we're horrible and mean parents, but I do find it a bit ironic how they were split up because they couldn't get along then they start to cry for each other from their isolation chambers (own rooms).
But now that I think of it, I'm not sure who was punished more since the total bedtime took almost 2 hours before all the wailing and gnashing of teeth was over. Then came the "I"m having bad thoughts" from the oldest, so we had a chat on Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. We actually have a cd with that song on it so I just sang the song to her... then on to the gaping wound of the second child ( better known as a blister) that was for sure going to need emergency medical attention right this minute... after offering some "spray" and a band aid, she refused and said it wasn't that bad.... and then the third.... oh my! Can I just say 3 year olds are so so so much harder than the two's! (At least at this house)..... she screamed, she cried, she stomped, she finally came to her senses after mom, then dad, then finally mom again talked her off the ledge... and she finally started to drift off while I'm still talking to her, telling her again that she needs to mind, talk and not scream, go to sleep so we can have fun tomorrow.. etc etc. you parents know the drill..... and she looks at me and says.. " Mom, I just need someone to rub my feet... will you rub my feet?".... so, I rub, and try not to laugh because it is all business at this point...and I think to myself as I'm rubbing this kid's feet, the kid who almost sent her mother to a padded cell about a half hour earlier....they really are kind of funny...in an annoying, go to sleep or I'll eat you alive kind of way. Oh grandparents... why are you so far away at a time like this? I know Scott's parents would have wonderful stories or songs or entertainment for them and my dad would for sure have been foot rubbing from the beginning... heck, all 3 would have been in bed with my parents and Scott and I could have had a date night! Looks like I'm going to have to start adding some pressure on the grandparents for a move. Just look at all the exciting opportunities we can offer them! ha ha! :-)

Must have been something about the day. Ryan was also sent to be early with no snuggle time and do you think he stayed there? Oh no! There were at least a half a dozen reasons why he had to come out while pitching a fit the whole time! Ugh! I think ours lasted only about and hour and a half but still!

Evelyn had a night like that last week but fortunatley it hasn't occured to her that she can get out of bed and come cry in my face. I'd like to leave it that way, thank you very much! and I totally agree with you, 3 is way worse than 2's. We say at work, teachable 2's ~terrible 3's. Evelyn has just started having true tantrums in the last couple of months, and the "half" ages are always harder, so here we come :)
Three years old is definitely a challenge! But then my particular 3yo is a challenge for me, period. I'm glad that the storm eventually passed for you...and that tonight is much much sweeter!
