The hills are alive......

We took mom and dad to Rainier one day to go hiking near the Ohanapecosh entrance of the Park. While we were at the mountain that day, we got a junior ranger book for the girls to work on. Hannah really got into it and completed her book throughout the day. We ended up at the ranger station and Ranger Andrew got to have a "swearing in ceremony" with Hannah. It was great fun and she wore her badge for the next 3 days! Now it is sitting in her room in a place of honor. For any of you that live near Rainier this is a great thing for the kids!
We hiked near box canyon. This had a huge drop! The weather was just gorgeous and the mountain was out!

We went to the island of the Patriarch's - which is an island with 1000 year old growth trees on it. The reason that they are so old is that since they are on an island, they have not been part of the forest fires of days past... makes sense. So, since it is an island, there has to be a bridge of some kind- and here comes the suspension bridge over the Ohanapecosh river. The sign said to go one at a time but my mom and I like to stick together. We got so tickled during our bridge walk- I kept telling her to quit laughing because I didn't want to jump in if she fell- not because I didn't want to save her but because I didn't want to explain to my overprotective brothers what I was doing with our mom on a suspension bridge. But we made it fine! After all, this grandma lettered in hiking back in the day!

Here is one of my favorite trail pictures.

Reflection lake- can you believe all this snow in July?

Proof that there is a mountain! This was a great, great day! Thanks mom and dad for visiting and thanks Scott for always finding fun hikes!
