Anyone who knows Scott knows that he has a huge adventurous side. So... we tried to play into that this father's day. Yesterday Scott was greeted at the door after church with 3 girlies each with a bag. Each girl had picked out an outfit or "costume" as Hopie put it for him to wear... and the adventure began.
Scott chose Haley's bag which held an outfit of khaki shorts, a grey t-shirt and a basketball jersey. Then we presented him with 3 envelopes for dinner. He chose envelope #1- teryiki but then we discovered that they were closed on Sundays... bummer. So off to envelope #3... Route 66 Pizza in Orting.. yummy. So we loaded up the van and went for pizza. We had to wait for a long time but it was so good we almost forgot about the wait.
For the date part of the day Scott chose envelope #2 which was Point Defiance to go hiking. As we were eating dinner in Orting, the opposite way of P.D. Scott suggested that maybe we do the Orting trail instead since he and Haley had seen a baby calf born there on Saturday... ( Orting trail was actually one of the choices along with Mt. Rainier but he just didn't pick it).. .. so the adventure took us to the Orting Trail. We walked, looked at the baby calves , and the girls picked up tons of sticks to throw in to the Carbon River. We found a place to cross on two logs and we ventured out to our own private island. We did the "will they sink or will they float?" with rocks, flowers, sticks, leaves. We had beautiful weather and a little extra excitement when I wanted the girls to smell some pretty flowers and instead we saw 2 snakes!!! That quickly put an end to our flower smelling session!
To end our great adventure.... Scott chose envelope #2... Baskin Robins! We all had ice cream then played at the park across the street with the neighborhood... well, actually, we let Scott finish some basketball game and we stayed out and played... but it was Father's day after all!
We had yet another great adventure with dad! It is one of the things that all of his girls really love about him!
