Pickin' and a Grinin'

Today started out like well... a Monday. Scott went to the dentist to fix the tooth that he had worked on last week. Since going to the dentist on Thursday he has been experiencing severe pain. He even came home from work after attempting to go to church yesterday. It's been horrible and finally at 7:00 this morning the dentist office was open and he got in. They re-filled a tooth, gave him some good pain drugs as well as an antibiotic so we are hopeful that it will be better soon! He's going to work at the port tonight so let's hope he'll be pain free- for the long-shoremen's sake!

After Scott went to the dentist, the girls and I were getting ready for our day and Hope, who is pretty much potty trained came to tell me she had to go. I took her and I guess what she meant to say was that she went. A dirty diaper is gross enough but a dirty undie is beyond repulsive. Hope, being my sensitive to smell kid, quickly got on the pot, discovered what the situation was, and proceeded to barf all over the bathroom. So, I had yuck from both ends! This kid was barfing and gaging at her own smell and then the other two by standards were yelling Gross! Sick! Hopie has the barfies! Yuck! Mom fix it! I realize that this is probably much more info than you ever wanted on my morning...but venting is often therapeutic I'm told... and I feel much better! :)

After going through an entire tub of Clorox Wipes, the bathroom, clothes, and kid were all clean and fresh! Yeah! By this time Scott was home and drugged and wanting to go to bed. So he did, and I decided that a shower was really over-rated and we took off for our friend Amy's house. Sometimes escape or a change of scenery can change my perspective... I was desperately hoping for that to be true today!

And it was. I packed up the girlies, about 6 packs of Ramen and a few granola bars, and barged in on my friend who has blackberry bushes in her back yard. She made us lunch, I watched the 7 girls in the backyard and we began to pick! Haley was a great taste tester! Pick one eat two was her mode of operation!

Hannah asked if she could use the ladder to get the great big ones just out of her reach. She was a picking machine once we set up the ladder! She ate her share too !

Hopie was the official bucket holder. She had the smallest bucket and we all helped fill it for her. She thought that she was such a big shot once her bucket was full- even though she only picked like 5 berries!

Since I just barged in on my friend, I left after about an hour and a half. I didn't want to wear our my welcome since I may have another day that I'll need to escape! On the way home I took the girls to the wadding pool at a downtown park. They had a lot of fun splashing and cooling off from their hard work.

Haley looks so grown up in this picture! Where has the time gone?

Here is Hannah and Hopie splashing in the water.

My three silly girlies

Striking a pose over the posies. I'm still working on getting the right shots with the new camera. It sure is a fun toy!
So, needless to say- what started out as a "crappy" day has taken a turn for the better! We ended up having a great time with our friends and with each other! Everyone is taking a nap now, Scott included, so I'm even getting unscheduled mommy time?! What?! Someone upstairs is sure smiling on me today- and I'll take it!
