On The Road Again....

The girls and Evelyn at the end of the day!

The girls loved the dig pit!

Last weekend we hit the road to Portland to visit Scott. His dad was out of town doing a wedding so Scott was asked to preach for him. He did a great job and his topic was community- go figure! haha! The girls and I took off around 4:00 but didn't make it in until close to 8:30. There was a terrible wreck on 1-5 and it really slowed us down. Thank goodness for the Taco Bell in Yelm, or Roy, or some place.... we hit it before we got on I-5 and were very glad that we did!

Saturday we hung out with Uncle Andy, Auntie Brigetta and Evelyn. We went to the children's museum and had a great time. Scott hadn't been there before so it was lots of fun showing him around. It was a rainy day so the place was packed... my mom radar was on total over-load by the time we left! I didn't dress the girls in the same color or anything smart like that so I was going crazy keeping my eyes on all 3 at once. So glad that there were 4 grown ups and 4 kids- there's no way I would have stayed that long without all those eyes!

Sunday Scott preached then we partied at Granny and Grandpa's. It was strange since they were still gone but we had fun. We made it home in much better time and the kids were in bed by 8:00 Sunday so we could get the week off to a good start. I feel like I spent all of yesterday ( Monday) just catching up but we are so glad to have the chance to hang out with Scott. Here are a few things that I've noticed since I have been "road-tripping" with the girls more lately:

5... After about 1 hour Veggie Tales get way, way old!
4... I've noticed that most all children's cd's with Christian songs seem to have the kids suck helium
3.....4 bottled waters and 4 female bladders are not a great idea on a 4 hour trip! 4 +4+4 = bladder pain and forced stops at nasty truck stops!
2.... my van shakes at 85mph.... should I see this as alarming or as a blessing? (Bokie would say a blessing I know)
1.... My girls love 70's rock and roll. I couldn't take it any more so we just rocked out! They love Joan Jett and they love Steve Miller and Elton John... That my friends is a big blessing to this mom... because let's face it- I don't really like to talk to tomatoes, and squashes don't really make me smile... I'd really rather eat potatoes.. and rock and roll on down that produce isle! :-)

Amen on the kids music...ugh! Although Brigetta has turned me onto the guy that does the Curious George soundtrack. Now that's something I can listen to! It was good to catch up with you yesterday!

Happy you made it home ok and had such a great weekend. Going to a museum, what fun. Traveling at 85, Debbie...wow! I'll pray more as you travel the roads. It is Wed. already and we've talked to Steve who has had a great time and will be home tomorrow. Have a super day...pick up the phone when you get a minute and call MO, ahum!

I'm glad you ladies got to come down and see Scott (among other people). And yay for a safe (if slow) drive!

How funny! I totally agree with you! I like the famous Veggies when going like maybe up to 5 blocks from home, but more definitly makes a mommy crazy. Do you have any of the "Go Fish" cd's? They are a kids Christian singing group that vows to "Make kid friendly music that won't drive their parents bonkers!" They really are good, and have some pretty rockin kids songs! They are the ones that also sing the "Mom song" and their newest hit, "it's hard to be cool in a minivan!" They are hillarious. They were at the MOPS convention, and I brought home the cd's last year, and the kids love them, and best of all I can handle them too. I am not sure how else you can buy the cd's, I am not sure if they sell them in regular places or if you need to get them online, but you should check it out either way. (Tiff has some, maybe you can borrow one for the next road trip and see if you like it)

Sounds like you need to GO FISH! I purchased 5 of their CD's at convention last weekend and now see why! Check out Candy Band, too. All kid friendly but to mom and dad music.
