front room......
Well, I gave my pal Tiffany such grief last week for posting her FTF on Thursday... I wonder what she will say since it is officially Saturday and I"m posting my second installment of Favorite Things Friday.... maybe I should rename it Second Helping Saturday or something since it is part two? Any hoo.... here goes:
This week I must admit that one of my favorite things is more of a place. It is actually the entire downstairs of our home. I love the upstairs because of the girl's rooms.. I've posted those pictures before and love love love what my dad has painted in their rooms... but this week it is the downstairs. Not at all because of the great furniture or anything like that but because of the memories that the decor holds.
For instance, my blue kitchen. This happened when 2 of my friends ,Ranee and Mel, came over and we all decided one day to paint. Our 6 or 7 kids at the time ate frozen pizza and watched Cinderella while the three of us mama's climbed on cabinets and laughed as we critiqued each others painting skills.. or lack there of.
Looking over to my wall you will see a painting that my dad did for me on an actual window of my happy place.. the beach. Love that! He thought that I was crazy when I explained what I wanted him to do.. .but it turned out great just like I knew it would!
My entertainment center that was custom made by my pal Larry. He was working as a contractor at a local Starbucks and saw that there was wood in the scrap pile that would match our cabinets. He had heard me talk about having an entertainment center so he brought the wood home and made me one! Love it! Bummer that Scott accidentally dropped the t.v. while putting it back into the newly made, custom entertainment center... but never fear, Mel had an extra t.v. so it's all good. Man I love this neighborhood! :-)
And for the latest edition..... our playroom/music room/ entry room. Our buddy Dave made me a custom window seat with tons of storage under it about a year ago. Since then, I've enlisted the help of my pal Tiffany who has helped me hang curtains, make pillows.. and by help I mean she does it and I say thanks, and arrange stuff on the wall to look like someone who knows what they are doing has been there.
I have made quite a proposal to Tiff and even attempted to get her husband on board with my next project... shutters and a mantle in the living room. Now if only I could get someone to give me a leather couch I'd be set! haha!
