What a day for America!

I just finished listening to Obama's inauguration and wow! What a great day to be an American! I am amazed by the changes that have occurred in our recent history- it's crazy to me that in my parents life time they have seen the oppression of segregation turn to opportunity for an African-American to take the office of President. I am excited to see what changes will occur in my children's lifetime and how this Presidency will inspire others to make positive impacts on our communities, country and world.

If you know me, you know that I rarely discuss politics- I guess I'm just excited to watch this new chapter in our history unfold. Today I"m inspired to make a difference where I can, and I hope you are as well regardless of your political views.

Amen, sister! I'm in contact with different people from around the country who still believe all the email forwards they got about Obama. The guy just took his oath of office with his hand on the bible and referenced scripture in his inaugural address, for cryin' out loud - he's not a muslim-extremist-slash-socialist-spy! :)

I may not agree with some of the things that he stands for policy-wise, but I appreciated his statements about our responsibility to work, make a difference, and not blame government for our woes. I'll be praying for him and his administration as the party ends and the work begins.

Happy Birthday, Debbie. The Obama message was great and we are excited to see positive changes happen in our country. Looking back in our lives we can see progress but we need so much more. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and message plus our new president's goals make this a very exciting time in our history. What a great time for us to experience and accept change. Blessings for a great 2009 as we make history.
