Happy Easter

I love Easter, I have great memories of it as a kid. At our church we always had 52 hours of prayer which began Thursday after the "Last Supper" play, where the men in our church dressed up and acted out the scene from the upper room, and ended on Easter morning. The youth group always put on the sunrise service and usually had an all-nighter the night before. We spent our time preparing for the service, filling in prayer slots for the wee hours of the morning, and getting into our share of pranks as the night progressed. Easter was the first time that I preached and the time of year that I chose to be baptized. I grew up in a family where faith was discussed, debated, and lived out on a daily basis, but Easter still blows my mind each and every year. Now, I love the bunny aspect- who are we kidding here? Why else would I stuff and hide 750 eggs for the neighborhood, or make my kids and Scott take a nap on Easter Sunday (we all know that "the bunny can't be seen leaving you clues to your basket so you better close your eyes tight!") And the clues are always jumbled for the scavenger hunts ( a Boling family tradition), and coloring eggs, and new clothes, but it is the overwhelming sense of belonging to someone, being loved and pursued by God and that He cares about me and my life that is just crazy cool. I hope that you were able to experience the joy of Easter this year in every single way! Happy Easter!

Love your blog! Your recalling of memories of past years bring great joy to me. Easter is and always will be the greatest holiday for Christians...and how blessed I am knowing all our family have a relationship with Jesus. Thank you for sharing your special memories with me, they are mine too. You are a delight, Deb!
