Is it broken?

Well, it's bound to happen at some point, I really can't believe we haven't experienced it yet- yep, a broken bone. After the slumber parties last weekend, Hannah came home and while getting out of the van slammed her hand in the door. She was standing there scramming and I ran out to see what was wrong and the door was totally closed- so much so that I had to go IN the van and open it from inside! I wasn't sure what to do with it so we went inside and iced it. She said that it was feeling better and could move it so I played the "watch and see" game. When my brothers broke bones growing up it was usually pretty obvious- waaaayy swollen and looked just wrong! Hannah's was swollen but I didn't know if it was "broken swollen". I always second guess myself with that kid since she has a crazy tolerance for pain. She said that it was feeling better, so we went to NW trek with our buddies the next morning. While on our adventure, I didn't like the look of it but she was acting crazy and having fun all day.. I broke down and took her into the doctor at 3:00 that afternoon and by 6:00 we finally had our answer. To the doctor's and the technician's and her mama's surprise, the finger/hand was not broken. We all thought that it was! So now, we get to ice her hand 2 times a day, and tape her fingers together to let them rest. The doctor said that we may need to come back in a week to get another x-ray if she is in any pain. I guess since her finger was swollen it may have not showed up on the x-ray or something? She acts fine, crazy as ever so we'll see. So glad that we've kept our streak of no stitches or broken bones going!

Whew! I know what you mean about the streak...we haven't had any broken bones yet...nor any trips to the ER. How long can it possibly last?!

I hope Hannah feels better soon!
