This morning as I was getting dressed Hope discovered my belly button...She asked very important questions like was it an innie or an outie... so I told her an innie.. but when she was inside me it was an outie! Of course this rocked her little world.
"When was I in dere mom?"
" Before you were born. There was a chord going to your belly button that helped you grow big and strong"
"Mom.. I didn't have a chord"
"You did when you were a little baby".... as she's pulling up her shirt to double check...
"They cut it right after you were born and then you were your own little person and not attached to mommy any more."
"Oh yeah.. I remember that! It was scary and you cried and it wasn't a happy cry either"
"How can you remember that?
" Because I"m 3 now and I'm so smart.. I know 2 and 2 are 4!"
She cracks me up! And don't worry, no pictures in this post.. a shot of my belly button for all to see would make me cry- and not a happy cry! :-)

Leave it to Hopie. Maybe she is going to be our medical doctor. Glad you are keeping a record of all these phenomenal inquiries...she's something, huh? Thanks for sharing!
That's hysterical!
So, did you cry a "not a happy cry" when the cord was cut?
since I had zipper babies I didn't feel a thing.. but I'm sure that the "symbolic chord cutting" will kill me for sure! Can't imagine a day without these rugrats constantly around.
I love all the "when I was little stories" that come at this age, too funny!
Life through the eyes of innocence! I love the way they see the world.
Hopie is a smart little girl. Truth-telling now sure helps later! Love you all!
