Earth Day

Happy Earth Day everyone! Today was a very busy day but loads of fun! It started with the early drop off so Hannah could catch her bus downtown. Lauren and Haley had school today too- even got to eat lunch there and have recess!! While the big kids were busy at school, Hopie and I did some exchange student work. We made time to hit coffee with Mel and Ryan just before having to start the pick up process that makes Wednesday's oh so exciting! :-) We got Haley at 12.. Hannah at 12:45 and Kylie at 1:00! All right on time! ( yes, miracle I know!)
Well, since it is Earth Day we just had to do some celebrating, so we hit Walmart and got some sassy new yellow yard gloves to share, some dirt, and a few flowers. Everyone got to pick out their own seed packet too ( we'll see how that works- this mama wishes she had a green thumb.. but alas.. it's more black than green.. as in dead) We stopped by the park on our wa home and had a great time there enjoying the "earth" for almost 2 hours! We came home and did a little planting, watering, and decorating our pot in Kylie's case... then headed inside to watch Little Miss Spider in lieu of naps. It was a great day! So great in fact, that we will be continuing our Earth Day celebration tomorrow with Mia and Ryan in the morning, and then with Jane and Damaris in the afternoon. I figure if I'm going to have all these kiddos.. we might as well make it fun and be outside!
Here's the "dirt" on the pictures.. ( couldn't resist)- Hopie is painting on our deck- technically it was a few days ago, but it's cute so I slipped it in. Hopie and Kylie were watering maniacs! They are learning the art of "tipping the can" instead of "dumping" the can. I have a feeling this concept may take awhile! The bottom right is the girls with the flowers that they planted. And finally, my favorite, the Isom girls: Gangster Hannah: Queen of Green, Little Miss Yella Fella : Haley with her gloves, Hopie: doing her impression of Great Grandma Isom when she is really excited... and then there is poor Kylie.. I left her in color to emphasize her face.... " what is wrong with these people?" Too funny!
There you have our Earth Day in review.. hope you had a great day and were able to do something for the planet today as well!

What a super day! Love the expressions on everyone's face. Know the girls will have fun watching the flowers grow. We are having an 80 degree day...dad is cutting the lawn...so that's our earth day fun. Everything is turning green and beautiful...need to do some planting too....
