Enough about Monkey, let's talk about Deb!

I went to a conference last week end for my new job at Compass USA. It was very informative, almost to the point of over-load! The entire day was dedicated to recruitment of host families- the part of my job that I enjoy the least. I have been working at getting the word out about my program and am hopeful that some families will be coming together soon! So, here is some information for those of you who are local! I'd love to talk with you and answer any questions that you might have! It is really going to be an easy gig and a lot of fun!

The students:
  • Come from an All Girl's school in Tokyo, Japan
  • Are ages 14-17
  • Speak English
  • Since this is an academic program, they have had to pass very difficult tests to be eligible for the program
  • would need a bed, not necessarily a room of their own. ( they could share with host family kids of the same gender )
  • Have class each day from 8-12:30 and activities most afternoons until 4:00 p.m.
  • Are extremely well behaved and respectful and know that this is a once in a life time opportunity

Host families:

  • are willing to share their family life with a student from July 22- Aug 11. in the evenings and weekends.
  • are willing to provide transportation to and from the activity center M-F for their student: we will work out carpools etc. etc. to make this as easy as possible

I have lots of information, fliers, power points, etc. I'd love to go over any and all of that with you or someone that you might think is interested! If you are local... I sure would appreciate any help you could give me on finding host families! I need to have them all placed by the end of April! ( 22 students plus 2 escorts). Let me know if you want to be a part of this Japanese experience! It's gonna be great!

Good Luck Deb, if anyone in the WORLD can do this job it you! Your girls will have such great experiences too from this, it's awesome. But watch out, they just might want to go off on an exchange of their own for a year like their Auntie :)

This program sounds wonderful. What an opportunity for these students and host families. Wish we could help, it sounds fantastic and you, Debbie, will do a great job. Have a great day!
