Riding Horses With Shanda

Last Friday my niece- to- be and her friend Lindsy took us horseback riding at Shanda's grandparents house. I forget the name of the town but it was near Buffalo, MO and we had a good laugh about that since it should be called Bison, MO. It's funny what a trip to Norhtwest Trek will do to you... we took Danny and Shanda when they visited us last month so now they too have been enlightened and know that Buffalo are from Asia and Bison are in North America.... there's your little history lesson for ya! haha! Anyway, here is Haley with Lindsy up on Lucy.

Lindsy has had formal riding lessons so Shanda likes to have her come along when she rides. They have also been friends for like 15 years so that's really neat! Lucy isn't ridden very much so she was a bit less than excited toward the end. Hopie loved her ride and would do it all day long. Imagine this from the kid who is afraid of cats?! Go figure!

Hannah loved the ride and did a really good job of sitting up tall and using her legs to balance etc. etc. It was about a million degrees that day... so we each had a ride- I took Lucy out into the field last and she really wanted to run... back toward the barn.... so I took it easy and just walked around. It brought back memories of my horse Cherokee and playing "who's the boss" with her!

Shanda's grandparents made us a great lunch of hamburgers ( from their own beef) and corn on the cob- which they also grew... it was sooooo sooo good! We also had angel food cake and Shanda introduced us to a new way of eating it... just rip it apart.. no knives, no forks, just rip and stuff.... we really liked it! :) Thanks for the fun day and the great memory!
