ok, so this was the only way to get some of our 60 pictures taken last night up for your viewing pleasure.... the collage to the rescue! If you'd like to see any closer just click on them! Here we are carving pumpkins in the back yard. Things got a little crazy and mom about snapped! We decided that her blood sugar must have been low so after we got a few kit kats into her she calmed down! But then it was dad's turn to loose it! He was so hungry that he wanted to eat guts!!! Pumpkin guts that is! And then he started feeding it to the kids and that's when he was saved by some candy of his own! Whew! That was a close one! The girls loved carving their pumpkins. We read the pumpkin gospel to them... a cool book about how God wants to clean us out and let our lights shine for Him.... and then we started in! Hannah got busy collecting seeds to roast... still need to do that.. and Haley's pumpkin was complete with a few loose teeth- just like her! Hopie wasn't too impressed with the "slimey-ness" of it all... but she loved her happy pumpkin face when it was done!
As you know... the girls went as the 3 little pigs. I got the masks at the dollar section in Target on a whim. There were only 2 left so I was quite bummed... but then when we opened up our Halloween bucket... there it was... our piglet costume that was passed down from our younger cousin ( so should that be passed up?) anyway, Evelyn gave it to us last year and Hope wore it last year... but then squeezed into it again this year. Way to go Hopie! Haley wanted to be a cheerleader at the last minute so I bribed her with some candy if she'd stay a pig.... it worked! I never said I was running for mom of the year you know.!
Each year the Imber/Isom gang (and friends) do a hot chocolate/cider stand along with our candy and it was a big hit. We left our new neighbors Jaquline and Brian in charge since they have one kid... who is 5 weeks old. As soon as we left I guess that business really picked up! But it all worked out well. Brian is a Marine recruiter so I'm sure that he had a system in place in no time!
Here is the gang.. or part of us! Lauren and Mia decided to be black cats, Grant was a puppy and Jack was a Kitty too! Then the three little pigs... eee i eee i oh! Mel said that we should charge people $5 a pop to stop by our petting zoo.! It was a great night! We made crafts, my mom's homemade hot cocoa ( for us only... the neighborhood got the packs of Swiss Miss), we watched movies had a few costume wettings, ( thankfully the kids) ,a few break downs ( mostly the kids :-)... and more fun than we bargained for. We finally kicked the last neighbors out around 9:15 and got our sugar coma kids tucked in bed. Can't wait for next year!
