This year we had dinner at Uncle Steve and Aunt Corine's house. They have remodeled and it had plenty of room for all of us- including one room dedicated to contain the bounce house or "padded cell"! We ate tons of great food, the guys played cards and the mom's took all the cousins to the park. We also put on a small play for all the aunties, uncles and grandparents. I think by the look on Great grandma's face on the above picture it was a bit unconventional.. haha! At the top right you can see Mary ( Hannah) who gave birth to baby Jesus ( Hope) on the back of a camel ( Scott). Now I know that there is a lot left up to interpretation in the scriptures... but I was always told that they rode a donkey? :-)..... any hoo....Shepherd-ess (Haley) came as well as a few cousins Angel ( Evelyn) Cow boy Kyle rode his dad Jeff the cow into the stable and Grandpa Russ played the part of Joseph. We all sang Away in a Manger as the grand finale!
Here we are making the famous turkey out of Oreo's, candy corn, whoppers, red hots, and frosting.... yummy yummy! Evelyn was eyeing her cousin Hopies gobbler and snatched off his whopper head! Her mama caught her in the act and we have this photo to prove it! I quickly replaced Mr. Turkey's head before Hope could protest too much! It warms my heart to see little Evelynie ( an only) get the best of her cousin ( the youngest).... we all know that the youngest child at times can have issues with thinking that the world revolves around them.... at least some youngest... not all of us! :-) Glad these two get along so well! We had lots of fun with Ben, Kyle and baby Owen too. We just refer to them as "the boy cousins" around here. It will be fun once we are closer to be able to hang out more!

What a great picture of Evelyn snatching the turkey's head from Hope! Priceless. It was great seeing you guys!
I think, regardless of accuracy, we need to make the Christmas play our new tradition. It was a really hectic, special moment. Props to you for thinking of it and props to Hannah for insisting on it, it was very cool.
I quizzed Evelynie on everyones "parts" in the play...who was Mary, what was Scott, was there an angel, and lastly, what was Papa? ( real answer = Joseph).
Evelyn's emphatic answer?
He was "Da Ghost!"
